The Art of Cooking Silicon Baking Mats

Believe it or not, I have never tried baking with a silicon baking mat, so when I was given the chance to try out a 3 pack of The Art of Cooking Silicon Mats I was pumped!  I love the idea of not having to grease or scrub my pans.  Now the next step, in the name of research, I had to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies ;).

Once I had my cookie dough ready to go it was really hard to resist the urge to grease up my pan.  The big mat was the perfect size to cover my cookie sheet and I easily fit 11 cookies on it (some people would probably try to squeeze one more on but I like to give them so room to spread).  Then they were ready to go to the oven and I crossed my fingers hoping they would come back off the mat!

Ahhhh, here they are all hot and fresh from the oven!  I waited about five minutes to let them firm up before attempting to transfer off the mat.   I am happy to report not one cookie broke or got stuck to the mat, in fact they slid off easily!

The second two mats are half the size and were easily placed together to cover one cookie sheet while baking.  I have also used these smaller mats for heating up a couple servings of leftovers, baking chicken, and heating up freezer food (sometimes it happens).  When I first received the mats I thought I would like the big one best, but I find myself pulling out a small one way more often.

After trying out these silicone mats I can't believe I have been baking any other way!  Not only did everything slide right off without any added oils but they were a breeze to clean.  They will definitely be seeing their fair share of use around here and if you would like to get a set for yourself they are available on Amazon here.
