Day 2 - Little Miss Blue Eyes

Click It Up A Notch

Once again for day 2 my subject is Amelia.  Since she is the reason I want to get better at taking photos she will probably be in most of them (though I will take other pictures as well, I promise).  For this shoot I was trying to work with the natural light in the room.  I have not bought a flash yet and the one on my camera never helps so natural light it is :)  I would really like some critiques to help me improve so comment away!  I am including a couple pictures, one is in both black and white and in color because I liked both (mostly I liked how blue her eyes were in the color).  I am thinking I would like to learn to do just her eyes in color because I think that would have made this shot even better.

I think maybe next time I would move the pillows out of the way making the background cleaner.  What do you think?

  1. Moving the pillows out of the way is a good idea. I love both b/w AND color, but I'm about over selective color (b/w with blue eyes). If say adjust your levels and rcurves on the b/w to get a sharper contrast. You may want to sissy your curves a bit in the color pic, too, but it's pretty great as is. Lovely subject!!! As important as it is to consider what you want in your picture, it is even more important to think about what you don't want in it... But it seems you've figured that out ;) Happy Shooting!

    1. Thanks so much! I think I might try to do another shoot on the bed without the pillows another day :)

  2. I really like the third photo. You still get to see those beautiful blue eyes but I like that you can also see her round cheeks and cute baby lips.
