Mattress Protectors for Little Ones

If you have or are expecting little ones then mattress protecters are a must!  I have a few different kinds of waterproof mattress protectors for different reasons.  I am going to share with you a couple of the protectors I use and why, so if you are planning a baby registry you will want to read this!

Comfort Shield Mattress Protector - This is one of the mattress protectors I use for our crib.  I like that it goes around the entire crib like a fitted sheet so it doesn't move around or leave spots unprotected.  If you have ever seen a little one sleep you know they are all over the crib so this is great.  I recommend two of these because you won't have time to wash it in the middle of the night (and yes, chances are this will be a problem at some point so just get two).  This protector has a terry cloth side which is a little different than some others, but it is soft and very absorbent!

Organic Mattress Pad - It is not easy to throughly clean the mat inside the play yard  so I highly suggest looking into getting a mattress pad for it!  First I love that this is organic but it is also super soft.  I was really impressed with the amount of padding and cushion in this cover.  It is perfect for when we go on our trip in January.  I think the extra cushion will help the play yard to be much more comfortable.

Absorbent Underpads - Now you might wonder why you need a waterproof pad if you already have a mattress protector on the crib and play yard but I have reasons.  I love these, I used one for placing on bed when I was nursing and right after having Amelia.  It is nice to be able to lay this down and then throw it in the wash without stripping the bed if milk spills.  Now that we are past the nursing stage this has become very helpful for potty training.  I put this down on our rug waterproof side up to protect from any accidents while in this stage.  Once we move Amelia to a twin bed (won't be for awhile yet) this can also be used on her bed.  I also put this on the couch when someone is sick with the flu, which has saved the couch from unpleasant accidents a couple times.

I hope my overview of a few different mattress protectors helps you out!  I have found these to be extremely helpful in helping keep my house clean (or cleaner).  While they don't seem like the most exciting purchase you will make for you little one, it will definitely be one the most practical!
